Ranking olejów neem 2026 Ranking olejów neem 2026

Neem oil ranking 2026

Neem oil is not a cosmetic you would choose for its scent or light consistency. It has an intense aroma, a thick consistency, and is best suited for targeted skincare — for dry, demanding skin, scalp and hair care, nail care, and as an addition to creams, masks, balms, and homemade oil blends.

In the ranking, we compared single-ingredient neem oils intended for cosmetic use. We paid particular attention to whether the oil is cold-pressed and unrefined, whether the manufacturer provides information about its origin, whether organic claims are backed by certification, and how it is packaged for the customer. We also compared prices per 100 ml, as the price of the bottle alone says little about value for money when sizes vary so widely.

We excluded products intended solely for plants and ready-made cosmetics in which neem is just one of many ingredients — these are different categories that require separate evaluation criteria. Product data and prices were checked on August 30, 2026.

Methodology — how we evaluated neem oils

Each product could earn a maximum of 20 points. Only single-ingredient neem oils with confirmed cosmetic use were eligible for the main ranking. This was a prerequisite for inclusion, so no points were awarded for it.

Extraction method and refining — max. 5 pts

We gave the highest marks to products for which the manufacturer clearly states both the pressing method and the absence of refining:

  • cold-pressed and unrefined — 5 pts,
  • cold-pressed, no information about refining — 3 pts,
  • no information about the extraction method — 0 pts.

A lack of information about refining does not mean that the product has undergone this process. We did not make such an assumption without data from the manufacturer.

Organic origin and certification — max. 4 pts

Points depended on how specifically the manufacturer documents the organic origin of the raw material:

  • a specific certificate or certifying body is indicated — 4 pts,
  • the manufacturer explicitly declares having an organic certificate, but without indicating the body or number — 3 pts,
  • the term “BIO” or “organic” without any found certificate confirmation — 1 pt,
  • no declaration of organic origin — 0 pts.

We did not treat the word “organic” on its own as equivalent to confirmed certification.

Data transparency — max. 4 pts

We evaluated the information that customers can find online before purchase. We checked four basic elements: ingredients, extraction method, country of origin, cosmetic use.

  • all four pieces of information are available — 4 pts,
  • one piece of information is missing — 3 pts,
  • two pieces of information are missing — 2 pts,
  • three pieces of information are missing — 1 pt,
  • all four pieces of information are missing — 0 pts.

Information available only on the physical packaging was not considered fully available before purchase.

Packaging — max. 3 pts

We evaluated the protection of the oil from light and ease of dispensing:

  • dark glass with a dropper or pump — 3 pts,
  • dark glass with a screw cap — 2 pts,
  • plastic or only partially confirmed packaging specifications — 1 pt,
  • no data — 0 pts.

In the case of Boswena, materials show a dark glass bottle with a dispenser, but are inconsistent as to its type — both a dropper and a pump appear. Since both options feature a dispenser, the product meets the 3-point threshold.

Price per 100 ml — max. 4 pts

We calculated the prices of different sizes per 100 ml:

  • up to 10 PLN/100 ml — 4 pts,
  • 10.01–15 PLN/100 ml — 3 pts,
  • 15.01–20 PLN/100 ml — 2 pts,
  • over 20 PLN/100 ml — 1 pt.

We did not include delivery costs. We compared exactly the same products and variants, without replacing them with cheaper equivalents from other brands.

In the event of a tie, we ranked the product with the higher score for organic origin and certification higher. If that score was also equal, data transparency decided, followed by the lower price per 100 ml.

Neem Oil Ranking 2026

🥇 1st place — Etja Organic Neem Oil 50 ml

16 / 20 pts
Etja Organic Neem Oil 50 ml
Price: 22.10 PLN / 100 ml (11.05 PLN / 50 ml) Ingredients: 100% neem oil Country of raw material: India

Etja takes first place thanks to a very good combination of processing quality, organic origin, and completeness of information. The oil is cold-pressed, unrefined, and made from organic Indian neem seeds from India. The manufacturer declares that the product has an organic certificate, and additionally provides CPNP database registration and dermatological testing.

The 50 ml package cost 11.05 PLN, which is 22.10 PLN per 100 ml. The dark glass bottle with a pump protects the contents well from light and makes dispensing small amounts during skincare easier.

The limitation is the small size. With regular use, the 50 ml bottle must be purchased more often than larger competitor variants, and when buying a single item, the delivery cost may additionally increase the actual cost of use.

For whom: for people looking for organic, unrefined neem oil with well-described origin and practical packaging.

🥈 2nd place — VitaFarm Neem Oil 100 ml

15 / 20 pts
VitaFarm Neem Oil 100 ml
Price: 13.85 PLN / 100 ml Ingredients: 100% neem oil Country of raw material: India

VitaFarm stands out for its very good price-to-raw material parameter ratio. This is 100% neem oil from India, cold-pressed and unrefined. The manufacturer clearly states it as a cosmetic raw material intended, among other things, for enriching creams, balms, shampoos, masks, and DIY cosmetics.

The 100 ml package cost 13.85 PLN, so the product falls into a favorable price range. An additional plus is the dark glass bottle with a dropper.

VitaFarm did not receive points for organic origin because we did not find a confirmed BIO declaration or certification. In addition, the product card contains all the basic information needed before purchase.

For whom: for people looking for unrefined neem oil from India at a good price and in a practical bottle with a dropper.

🥉 3rd place — Pure Chemical Neem Oil 100 ml

14 / 20 pts
Pure Chemical Neem Oil 100 ml
Price: 15.49 PLN / 100 ml Ingredients: 100% neem oil Country of raw material: no data

Pure Chemical performs well in terms of processing method and packaging. The product contains 100% neem oil, is cold-pressed and unrefined, and the manufacturer states it as a cosmetic raw material. The dark glass bottle with a dropper makes precise dispensing easier.

For 100 ml, we accepted the price of 15.49 PLN. The product falls into the middle price range of the ranking, and basic information about the composition and use is easily available on the product card.

A weaker point is the lack of a stated country of origin, so the product did not receive full points for transparency. The manufacturer also uses the term “organic,” but we did not find information about a specific certificate or certifying body, so it received 1 point in the organic origin category.

For whom: for people looking for unrefined neem oil in dark glass with a dropper, who do not require a confirmed organic certificate.

4th place — Make Your Own Cream Indian Neem Oil ORGANIC 115 ml

13 / 20 pts
Make Your Own Cream Indian Neem Oil ORGANIC 115 ml
Price: approx. 21.65 PLN / 100 ml (24.90 PLN / 115 ml) INCI: Azadirachta Indica (Neem Oil) Country of raw material: India

The most important advantage of this product is the clearly stated certification. The oil is cold-pressed from Indian neem seeds originating from India, and the seller provides a Soil Association certificate.

The 115 ml variant cost 24.90 PLN, which is about 21.65 PLN per 100 ml. The product is intended for cosmetic use, and after opening, the seller recommends storing it in the refrigerator.

The lower score was caused by the lack of clear information about refining and the plastic packaging with a screw cap. In terms of documented organic origin, however, the product is among the strongest in the set.

For whom: for people for whom confirmed organic certification and origin from India are more important than the type of packaging.

5th place — Sattva Neem Oil 250 ml

13 / 20 pts
Sattva Neem Oil 250 ml
Price: 6.80 PLN / 100 ml (17.00 PLN / 250 ml) Ingredients: 100% neem oil Country of raw material: no data

Sattva definitely stands out for its large size and the lowest unit price in the set. The product contains 100% Azadirachta Indica Seed Oil, is cold-pressed and unrefined. The manufacturer offers it for skin, hair, and scalp care.

The 250 ml package cost 17.00 PLN, which is only 6.80 PLN per 100 ml. This is the best price result in the ranking and the only product falling into the threshold of up to 10 PLN per 100 ml.

The lower position is mainly due to the lack of country of origin and confirmed organic certification. Information about the packaging is also only partially evaluable based on product materials.

For whom: for people who use larger amounts of neem oil and primarily focus on the low cost per 100 ml.

6th place — ESENT Indian Neem Oil 100 ml

12 / 20 pts
ESENT Indian Neem Oil 100 ml
Price: 24.89 PLN / 100 ml INCI: Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil Country of raw material: India

ESENT stands out for its very detailed technical description. The oil is mechanically cold-pressed, filtered, and unrefined. The seeds come from India, and the product is offered as a raw material for cosmetic formulations, including balms, emulsions, soaps, and oil products for hair and scalp.

The price was 24.89 PLN per 100 ml, so the product falls into the highest price range used in the methodology. The oil is in a dark glass bottle with a screw cap.

ESENT documentation includes more technical parameters than the scoring required, but this did not award additional points beyond the maximum score for transparency. The lower position is mainly due to the price and lack of confirmed organic certification.

For whom: for people making their own cosmetics and paying great attention to documentation and the technical parameters of the raw material.

7th place — Boswena Neem Oil 100 ml

12 / 20 pts
Boswena Neem Oil 100 ml
Price: 14.49 PLN / 100 ml Ingredients: 100% neem oil Country of raw material: information on the packaging

Boswena stands out for its favorable price and good packaging. The product contains 100% cold-pressed neem oil and is intended, among other things, for use as an ingredient in skin and hair care products.

The 100 ml package cost 14.49 PLN, so the product falls into a favorable price range. The oil is sold in a dark glass bottle with a dispenser.

On the product card, we did not find information about refining or organic certification. The country of origin is only on the physical packaging, so in the transparency evaluation, we considered this information unavailable online before purchase. The manufacturer's materials are also inconsistent as to the type of dispenser — showing a dropper or a pump — but both options feature a dispenser.

For whom: for people looking for affordable, cold-pressed neem oil in dark glass packaging.

Ranking summary

Etja wins thanks to the combination of cold pressing, lack of refining, organic raw material from India, high transparency, and well-chosen packaging. Its weaker point is the small 50 ml bottle and the high price per 100 ml.

VitaFarm offers a very good price-to-parameter ratio: unrefined, cold-pressed oil from India in a dark glass bottle with a dropper. However, the lack of confirmed organic certification prevented it from overtaking the leader.

Pure Chemical takes third place thanks to the combination of unrefined, cold-pressed oil with dark glass and a dropper. It loses points for the lack of country of origin and the lack of a confirmed organic certificate.

Zrób Sobie Krem stands out with the indicated Soil Association certificate and clearly defined origin of the raw material. Sattva has by far the lowest price per 100 ml and good parameters of the oil itself, but provides less information about its origin and packaging.

ESENT performs well in terms of extraction method and completeness of data, but is one of the more expensive products in the comparison. Boswena remains attractive in price and has good packaging, but scores lower due to the lack of information about refining, certification, and country of origin available online before purchase.

What is neem oil?

Neem oil is obtained from the seeds of the Indian neem tree, which is the Azadirachta indica tree. Natural oil can range in color from dark yellow to greenish to brown and has a very characteristic, intense smell.

Unrefined neem can thicken or solidify at lower temperatures. This does not necessarily mean a deterioration in product quality — after gentle warming, the oil becomes liquid again.

Uses of neem oil

Neem oil can be used as a standalone cosmetic raw material or as an ingredient in more complex formulations. The specific concentration and method of use should be adapted to the manufacturer's recommendations for the given product.

Most common cosmetic uses:

  • addition to creams and balms,
  • ingredient in skin masks,
  • oily hair mixtures,
  • scalp products,
  • nail and cuticle cosmetics,
  • DIY cosmetics,
  • oil phase of emulsions,
  • soap ingredient,
  • addition to massage oils.

Due to its characteristic smell, many brands recommend mixing neem with another carrier oil instead of using it as the only oil in the recipe.

Other forms and variants of neem that may interest you

  • Unrefined neem oil: This is a less processed variant that retains the characteristic color, smell, and consistency of the raw material.
  • Refined neem oil: Refining changes some of the oil's sensory characteristics. Such a product may have a milder smell or color, but it should be evaluated according to different criteria than unrefined oil.
  • Certified organic neem oil: In this case, the organic origin of the raw material is supported by a specific certification system. The word "natural", "BIO", or "organic" in the product name is not always enough to confirm a certificate.
  • Ready-made cosmetics with neem: Neem can be one of the ingredients in shampoos, masks, creams, balms, or soaps. Such products are not equivalent to pure oil and require analysis of the entire formulation.
  • Neem preparations for plants: There are many products with neem oil on the market intended for plant care. They should not be automatically used cosmetically — for skin and hair care, it is worth choosing a product labeled as a cosmetic or cosmetic raw material.

How to choose a good neem oil?

Tips before purchase:
  • Start with the composition: If you are looking for pure oil, check whether the product really contains only neem oil. In this ranking, a single-ingredient composition was a condition for inclusion in the list.
  • Check the extraction method: The information "cold-pressed" says more about the product than the term "natural" alone. An additional advantage is a clear declaration of whether the oil is unrefined.
  • Do not treat the word "organic" as a certificate: If organic origin is important to you, look for information about a specific certificate, certifying body, or an unambiguous declaration of having an organic certificate.
  • Check the country of origin: The lack of this information does not necessarily mean the oil is of poor quality. However, the stated country makes it easier to compare products and increases the transparency of the offer before purchase.
  • Pay attention to the packaging: Dark glass helps limit exposure to light, and a dropper or pump makes it easier to dispense small amounts of the product.
  • Compare the price per 100 ml: The price of the packaging alone can be misleading. In our comparison, the cost of 100 ml ranged from 6.80 zł to 24.89 zł, so the differences between products are significant. It is also worth remembering that a small package may mean more frequent purchases and a larger share of the delivery cost in the actual cost of use.

How to store neem oil?

Neem oil should be stored in a tightly closed container, protecting it from direct light and high temperatures. Detailed recommendations may vary between manufacturers.

Some brands recommend a cool, dark place, while others recommend storing it in the refrigerator after opening. The instructions provided for the specific product always take precedence.

Thickening or solidifying of the oil in the cold is a typical characteristic of neem. The closed container can be gently warmed to restore its liquid consistency.

FAQ — most common questions about neem oil

Which neem oil is best to choose for cosmetic use?

It is worth looking for a product with a simple composition, clearly defined extraction method, and cosmetic purpose. Additional advantages are information about its origin, confirmed organic certification, and light-protecting packaging.

Should neem oil be unrefined?

Unrefined oil retains the characteristic color, smell, and consistency of the raw material. However, this does not mean that every refined product is unsuitable — it is simply a different degree of processing.

What does "cold-pressed" mean?

It means a mechanical method of extracting oil without using the high temperature typical of some other production processes. It is worth checking separately whether the manufacturer also declares that it is unrefined.

Why does neem oil solidify?

At lower temperatures, natural neem oil can become thick or solid. After gentle warming, it returns to a liquid form.

Why does neem oil have such an intense smell?

This is a natural characteristic that is particularly noticeable in unrefined oil. The smell can be described as herbal, garlicky, nutty, or bitter, and may vary between batches.

Do "organic" and "certified organic" mean the same thing?

No. A marketing declaration alone is not equivalent to indicating a specific certificate or certifying body.

Is neem oil suitable for hair?

Cosmetic neem oils are often also intended for hair and scalp products. The method of application and any dilution should be adapted to the instructions of the specific product.

Does the dark glass bottle matter?

It helps limit the exposure of the contents to light and is therefore a practical solution for oils. However, it is not a guarantee of the quality of the raw material by itself.

Can neem oil for plants be used on the skin?

This should not be assumed. A product for cosmetic use should be clearly intended for such use or labeled as a cosmetic raw material.
