Ranking of dried bananas 2026
Dried bananas are a convenient, naturally sweet snack that is easy to take to work or add to oatmeal, granola, or a homemade trail mix. Good products have a short ingredient list, a pleasantly soft texture, and do not require added sugar, oil, or preservatives.
In the ranking, we compared traditionally dried bananas containing 100% fruit. We checked which products best combine raw material quality, transparent information about origin, a favorable fiber and sugar profile, practical packaging, and a reasonable price per 100 g. Banana chips and freeze-dried bananas are described separately because they are not direct equivalents of traditionally dried bananas and require different evaluation criteria. Product data and prices were checked on July 29, 2026.
Methodology — how did we evaluate dried bananas?
Each product could earn a maximum of 65 points. We only included traditionally dried products containing 100% banana, without added sugar, oil, and preservatives in the main ranking. This was a requirement for inclusion in the list, so we did not award points for it. Banana chips, freeze-dried products, and products with additives are described outside the numbered ranking.
Raw material quality and transparency — max. 25 pts
We evaluated:
- organic certificate — 10 pts,
- country of origin: one specific country — 8 pts, variant or ambiguous information — 4 pts, no data — 0 pts,
- product form: clearly described, e.g., soft slices or pieces — 4 pts, general description — 2 pts, no information — 0 pts,
- nutritional table and storage instructions: availability of both elements — 3 pts, only one — 1 pt, none — 0 pts.
The absence of a numerical fiber value did not reduce the score in this sub-criterion, as it was evaluated separately in the fiber and sugar profile.
Fiber and sugar profile — max. 15 pts
This part does not evaluate the overall "healthiness" of the product. It compares two parameters provided on the labels:
- fiber: minimum 8 g/100 g — 8 pts; 5–7.9 g — 4 pts,
- sugars: maximum 50 g/100 g — 7 pts; 50.1–65 g — 4 pts.
In the absence of data, the product did not receive points for the given parameter. Inconsistent tables were also evaluated carefully.
Price per 100 g — max. 15 pts
For each product, we adopted the lowest regular price found on the day of verification for exactly the same weight. We did not include temporary promotions, discount codes, loyalty programs, subscriptions, multi-packs, or delivery costs. The average price of the compared products was approximately 4.88 PLN per 100 g.
- up to 4.88 PLN/100 g — 15 pts,
- 4.89–5.88 PLN/100 g — 10 pts,
- above 5.88 PLN/100 g — 5 pts.
Price did not decide the place on its own. A product with incomplete data did not win solely because it was the cheapest.
Packaging and availability — max. 10 pts
We took into account:
- product protection after opening: packaging well suited for further storage — 5 pts, standard packaging without confirmed resealing — 4 pts, basic packaging with limited description — 3 pts, transport bag requiring transferring the product — 2 pts, no data — 0 pts,
- availability on the day of checking — 3 pts,
- weight: 400–500 g — 2 pts, 150–399 g — 1 pt, below 150 g — 0 pts.
In the event of a tie, we ranked the product with a higher score for raw material quality and transparency higher. If that score was also equal, the lower price per 100 g decided.
Dried Bananas Ranking 2026
🥇 1st place — Bio Planet Dried Bananas BIO 400 g
57 / 65 pts
Bio Planet takes first place thanks to the best combination of certified raw material, transparent origin, and a favorable price. Soft, slightly chewy pieces will work both as a standalone snack and as an addition to oatmeal, muesli, or baked goods.
The lowest regular offer for a 400 g package was 15.83 PLN. This gives approximately 3.96 PLN per 100 g — one of the best price results in the list.
In the sales cards, there are differences in energy values and sugar amounts, probably resulting from different batches or outdated descriptions. However, in every found version, the amount of sugars was below the threshold adopted in the methodology. The lack of a clear fiber value did not allow awarding full points in the nutritional profile.
🥈 2nd place — Delikatesy Zdrowo Dried Bananas BIO 500 g
49 / 65 pts
Second place is taken by a product that combines a BIO certificate, origin from Sri Lanka, and a favorable price for a large package. The 500 g weight will work well for regularly adding dried bananas to breakfasts, baked goods, and homemade trail mixes.
For a 500 g package, you had to pay 24.90 PLN, which is approximately 4.98 PLN per 100 g. The card states 37 g of sugars per 100 g, but does not contain numerical information about fiber, which limited the nutritional profile evaluation.
The packaging is a weaker point — the seller recommends transferring the bananas from the paper transport bag to an airtight container.
🥉 3rd place — Go4Taste Dried Banana Slices 500 g
48 / 65 pts
Third place is taken by one of the most affordable products in the list. Slices from Sri Lanka will work well in homemade energy bars, trail mixes, or as a sweet addition to banana cake.
The price of 22 PLN for a 500 g package translated to 4.40 PLN per 100 g. This is the third best price result in the ranking.
The product card states 6.8 g of fiber and 55 g of sugars per 100 g, so both parameters fell into the intermediate scoring ranges. With the same final score as Pięć Przemian, the higher position was decided by a better evaluation of raw material quality and data transparency.
4th place — Pięć Przemian Dried Bananas 200 g
48 / 65 pts
Fourth place is taken by a product distinguished by a well-described nutritional profile. The bananas come from Ecuador, and the 200 g package will be convenient for people who buy dried fruit occasionally or want to check its taste and texture first.
Pięć Przemian states 9.6 g of fiber and 62 g of sugars per 100 g. The high fiber content works in the product's favor, while the amount of sugars places it in the intermediate range adopted in the methodology.
The 200 g package was available at a regular price of 9.48 PLN, which is 4.74 PLN per 100 g. The standard package without confirmed resealing and the smaller weight limited the packaging evaluation.
5th place — Fresano Dried Unsweetened BIO Bananas 400 g
41 / 65 pts
Fifth place is taken by an organic product that performs well in terms of sugar content, but loses due to a high price and ambiguous information about the origin of the raw material.
The Fresano card states 45 g of sugars per 100 g, which falls into the best range adopted in the methodology. However, the lack of numerical information about fiber did not allow awarding a full nutritional profile score.
In some offers, Sri Lanka is indicated as the country of origin, while in others, Poland, which may refer to the place of packaging. For a 400 g package, you had to pay at least 23.99 PLN, which is approximately 6 PLN per 100 g — one of the highest results in the list.
6th place — OlsiFood Natural Soft Dried Banana 500 g
36 / 65 pts
Sixth place is taken by the cheapest product in the list. The bananas come from Vietnam, and the 500 g package will be practical for frequent use of dried fruit at home.
In the manufacturer's store, a 500 g package cost 16.80 PLN, which is 3.36 PLN per 100 g. This is by far the lowest unit price in the ranking.
The low price was not enough for a higher place: the product card does not present a complete nutritional table, so fiber and sugars cannot be fairly compared with the competition. The lack of confirmed resealing further limited the packaging evaluation.
7th place — Natural Expert Dried Banana Coins 500 g
35 / 65 pts
Natural Expert offers traditionally sun-dried banana slices from Peru. The product contains 100% fruit. Its advantage is a transparent description of the raw material and processing method.
At a price of 28 PLN for 500 g, the cost of 100 g was 5.60 PLN. This is a moderate result — higher than the price leaders, but still reasonable for a product in a large weight.
A lower score was caused by discrepancies between product cards: they contain different sugar and fiber values, including data difficult to reconcile with a 100% dried fruit composition. For this reason, we did not award points for the fiber and sugar profile.
8th place — Your Taste Dried Bananas 500 g
28 / 65 pts
Your Taste claims its dried bananas contain no added sugar or preservatives. The product stands out for its declared fiber content — 13.8 g per 100 g. At the same time, 70 g of sugars exceeds the threshold adopted in the methodology, so the nutritional profile prevented it from achieving a full score.
The price of PLN 29.95 for 500 g meant a cost of PLN 5.99 per 100 g. In this range, competing products offer more detailed information about the raw material or a more favorable unit cost.
The last place is due primarily to the lack of a clearly indicated country of origin and the general description of the product form. The composition remains correct, but transparency is weaker than that of products ranked higher.

Ranking summary
Bio Planet wins thanks to the BIO certificate, indicated origin, and one of the lowest regular prices per 100 g. Delikatesy Zdrowo offers a similar profile in a 500 g package, but a higher unit price and a paper transport bag lowered the score.
Go4Taste takes third place after considering the label data: 6.8 g of fiber and 55 g of sugars per 100 g. Pięć Przemian gets the same total score, but loses the tie-break due to a lower raw material quality and transparency rating. Fresano takes fifth place thanks to the BIO certificate, despite the high price and ambiguous origin.
OlsiFood takes sixth place thanks to the lowest unit price and packaging score for the 500 g package, despite missing nutritional values in the table. Natural Expert performs better in terms of raw material description and drying method, but loses due to a lower total score. Your Taste closes the list due to the lack of a clearly indicated country of origin, high sugar content, and a price exceeding the upper scoring threshold.
What are dried bananas?
Dried bananas are made by removing a significant portion of water from ripe fruit. The classic version is usually soft, flexible, and darker than a fresh banana. It should not be automatically equated with crispy chips.
The loss of water means that 100 g of the dried product contains more carbohydrates and calories than 100 g of fresh fruit. This also applies to the sugars naturally present in bananas. The term “no added sugar” therefore does not mean a product without sugars.
Uses of dried bananas
Dried bananas work well as a sweet snack and an ingredient in breakfasts, baked goods, and homemade mixtures. Thanks to their soft, flexible texture, they can be easily sliced, chopped, or added whole.
Best uses:
- as a standalone snack,
- as an addition to oatmeal and semolina porridge,
- as a muesli or granola ingredient,
- as part of a trail mix,
- as an addition to homemade energy bars,
- as an ingredient in cakes, muffins, and banana bread,
- as an addition to yogurt or skyr,
- as a sweet touch in desserts and puddings.
Unlike banana chips, dried bananas are not hard and crispy, so they are better suited for baked goods, energy bars, and mixtures in which they can retain their soft consistency.
Other forms of bananas that may interest you
Traditionally dried bananas
They most often contain 100% fruit. They are soft or slightly chewy, sometimes dark and sticky. This is the form we compared in the main list.
Banana chips
Their crispiness is usually due to processing with oil. Sugar, honey, or syrup is also often found in the ingredients. An example product may contain around 70% bananas, so chips are a more processed snack than traditionally dried fruit.
Freeze-dried bananas
They are made by freezing the fruit and then removing the water under vacuum conditions. They are light, brittle, and crispy, but they quickly absorb moisture. They usually cost significantly more than traditionally dried bananas.
Bananas with sulfur dioxide
Sulfur dioxide helps preserve the shelf life and appearance of dried fruit, but means an additional ingredient in the product. On the label, it may appear as E220 or as one of the sulfites marked with numbers E221–E228.
How to choose good dried bananas?
- Start with the ingredients: The simplest version contains only bananas. Oil, sugar, and preservatives are not necessary to create a soft dried fruit.
- Check if “no sugar” means “no added sugar”: Dried bananas naturally contain sugars. A reliable label should distinguish between no sweetening and a complete absence of sugars.
- Compare the values per 100 g: Manufacturers may use different serving sizes. The easiest way to compare products is by using the values provided per 100 g.
- Assess the completeness of the product sheet: The lack of a country of origin, nutritional values table, or storage instructions does not necessarily mean the fruit is of poor quality. However, it makes informed comparison difficult and lowers the credibility of the offer.
- Calculate the price instead of looking at the cost of the package: A small package may seem cheap, even though it costs more than larger options when calculated per 100 g.
- Match the weight to the frequency of consumption: A large package is only worth it if the product is consumed before losing its proper consistency. Dried fruit easily absorbs moisture.
How to store dried bananas?
Dried bananas should be kept in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat sources. After opening, the packaging should be tightly closed.
If the manufacturer uses a paper transport bag, it is best to transfer the fruit to a container or jar. Moisture can change its consistency, promote clumping, and shorten the product's shelf life.
A darker color does not necessarily indicate spoilage. Naturally dried bananas often brown. However, they should not be eaten if mold appears, an unusual smell develops, or the taste is clearly altered.
FAQ — most common questions about dried bananas
Which dried bananas are best?
The most versatile choice has an ingredient list of 100% banana, with no oil, added sugar, or preservatives. It is also worth checking the country of origin, nutritional values table, and price per 100 g.
Do dried bananas contain sugar?
Yes. Even without sweetening, they contain sugars naturally present in the fruit, which become more concentrated after the water is removed.
Are dried bananas the same as banana chips?
No. Traditionally dried bananas are usually soft, while chips often contain oil and a sweetener.
How do freeze-dried bananas differ from dried ones?
Freeze-dried products are light and brittle, while traditionally dried bananas are soft or chewy. They also differ in price and moisture resistance.
Are dark dried bananas worse?
No. Darkening is a natural effect of processing and oxidation. Smell, lack of mold, expiration date, and proper storage are more important.
Does a BIO certificate guarantee better taste?
No. It confirms the method of producing the raw material, but does not determine the taste, consistency, or cost-effectiveness.
What does “sulfur-free bananas” mean?
It means that sulfur dioxide or other sulfites were not used as preservatives. Sulfur dioxide helps preserve the shelf life and appearance of dried fruit, but means an additional ingredient in the product. People looking for bananas without preservatives should check whether the label contains markings E220–E228.
Why do the nutritional values of similar products differ?
The banana variety, ripeness of the fruit, degree of drying, and specific batch have an impact. Some differences may also result from outdated or incorrectly transcribed product sheets.
